Your newborn photography session
What to expect when bringing me your newborn.
I often get asked: What do we bring to a newborn session? How do we prepare? What if the baby cries?
I talk you through a typical session and hopefully you feel reassured and ready to experience your wonderful life milestone.
I recommend shooting baby under the age of 4 weeks to get all the squishy poses and to have a sleepy baby. But if you have an older newborn, please don’t be put off. I will work with older ages as well.
I work on a posing table and also use props. For my prop shots, the baby is typically swaddles (do not worry, this does not hurt the baby; it merely replicates the womb pose they have been in for the last 9 months).
I only do the poses each baby lets me comfortably do. I will move on to the next pose if I feel a baby is uncomfortable.
Newborn photography with mum and dad
I encourage mum and dad to get into the pictures too
Often it will be the only time both parents will be in a picture and this picture will mean the world to your baby one day. I work with parents to ensure they feel relaxed and comfortable and do a variety of poses to suit each individual.
From backlit to natural to posed with mum’s outfits provided.
Choosing the baby’s outfit and colour scheme
Pick 2 colours to use throughout the photo shoot
I ask my clients to pick two colours that I will use throughout the session. I also have a beautiful little client wardrobe to chose from.
This can be done before the newborn photography session or when my clients get to the studio.
Babies and Newborn Photography Gallery
My clients will be invited back when I have selected and edited the best images from their baby and newborn photography session. Typically, one or two of each pose I have shot.
